PAST EVENT
Meeting: 26 April 2023 5.30pm - 7.30pm

We Need to Talk About Inflation

Speaker: Stephen D King, Author & Senior Economic Adviser, HSBC

Venue: Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, 3 More London Riverside, London, SE1 2AQ

We are delighted that Stephen King will be addressing members about his new book We Need to Talk About Inflation, due to be published on 25 April, the day before this event. His book is a myth-busting explanation of inflation, the desperate gullibility of central bankers and finance ministers—and our abject failure to learn from history.

Stephen King is HSBC’s Senior Economic Adviser and a successful author. Stephen’s book, We Need to Talk About Inflation, will be published by Yale on 25 April 2023 and has already received advance praise from, among others, Mervyn King, who describes it as ‘timely, well-researched and very well written.’ His last book, Grave New World (Yale) - described by Lawrence Summers, former US Treasury Secretary, as ‘a very important book at a crucial time’ - was published in May 2017 to considerable critical claim: When the Money Runs Out (Yale) was selected as a ‘book of the year’ by the Financial Times, the Economist and the Times. Since 2018, Stephen has been a regular columnist for the London Evening Standard.  He has written for, among others, the Financial Times, the Times, the Independent and the New York Times.

The event starts at 5.30 pm and will be held at the offices of Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, 3 More London Riverside, London, SE1 2AQ.

Registration is from 5.00pm onwards and the talk will be followed by networking drinks until 7.30pm

Members need to pre-book via the SPE office on admin@spe.org.uk
