SPE Courses is running an Introduction to Wellbeing in Appraisal on 3 June 2024 9.30am-5.00pm
This course focuses on a recent addition to appraisal – wellbeing analysis. The course will begin with an overview of wellbeing, its measurement and why it matters in economic analysis. The use of wellbeing in economic appraisal will then be introduced with a focus on cost-benefit analysis (CBA) and cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA). Participants will be shown how to use wellbeing evidence in accordance with latest supplementary Green Book guidance Wellbeing Guidance for Appraisal: Supplementary Green Book Guidance (2021).
The course will be delivered by Sara MacLennan. Sara is a Visiting Research Fellow at the London School of Economics, working in the Centre for Economic Performance on the Wellbeing Value for Money of Government policies. Prior to this, Sara spent over 10 years in the UK Government Economic Service where she authored the Wellbeing Guidance for Appraisal: Supplementary Green Book Guidance (2021), the UK guidance for incorporating wellbeing in policy appraisal.
