SPE Annual Dinner 2025
Speaker: Christopher J Waller, Member of the Board of Governors, Federal Reserve System
The SPE held another highly successful dinner on 17 November, very generously hosted by Oxford Economics and once again held in the Nash Room at the Institute of Directors; a venue that never fails to impress. Thank you to all those that came and showed support - the dinner had the highest attendance on record!
The SPE’s Chair, George Buckley, started the formal speeches by thanking Oxford Economics on behalf of the Society for generously sponsoring the dinner, and updated guests on the latest Society news and growth and thanked his fellow council members, and non-council members for the valuable support they offer. George also thanked all our sponsors including KPMG for its kind sponsorship of the Rybczynski Prize before handing over to SPE President, Sir Dave Ramsden, to introduce Governor Waller.
During his enlightening talk, Mr Waller said he would vote for another interest rate cut at the central bank’s December meeting because of concerns of lay-offs in the labour market and the sharp slowdown in hiring.

Thank you again to Oxford Economics for generously hosting the event.
